Mahabaleshwar
is a hill station in India's forested Western Ghats range, south of Mumbai. It features several elevated viewing points, such as Arthur’s Seat.

West of here is centuries-old Pratapgad Fort, perched atop a mountain spur. East, Lingmala Waterfall tumbles off a sheer cliff.

Colorful boats dot Venna Lake, while 5 rivers meet at Panch Ganga Temple to the north.

Mahabaleshwar is the largest hill station in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra state. It is situated at an altitude of 1372 m above sea level in Satara district, about 115 km southwest of Pune.

Due to its high altitude, the town has a cool climate and offers many pleasant walks. There are several lookout points that offer spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

There is an old Shiva temple in the forest, which is the source of five rivers, including the Krishna river which is the second-longest river of peninsular India. It's a very good place to visit.

Mahabaleshwar is visited by many thousands of tourists every year. It is well connected by bus with the important towns of the region.

There are numerous hotels for every budget. The peak season is March-May; it rains very heavily from June to September.

Mahabaleshwar is the best family weekend gateway from Pune. Pune Airport is the nearest airport.

  2. Kate's Point - Plateau on a mountain offering an observation terrace for sweeping valley & river views, plus cafes.
  3. Bombay Point (Sunset Point) - Founded in 1836, this bustling scenic overlook offers concessions, horseback rides & sunsets.
  4. Elephant's Head Point- Picturesque observation point offering elevated mountain views & food from local vendors.
  5. Lingamala Falls - Lingmala Waterfalls is one of the famous attractions in Mahabaleshwar.

Lodwick Point is situated about 5 km west of Mahabaleshwar Bus stand. Previously this point was known as Sydney Point. 

The point was rechristened in the honor of General Lodwick, who was the first British officer to climb the hill in April 1824. The original name of the point is Domeshwar.

Babington Point - Place to Visit Mahabaleshwar

Lookout point in the hills above Mahabaleshwar offering vistas of the surrounding countryside. Babington Point is a well-known standpoint of Mahabaleshwar. The point offers magnificent opinions of the Solshi, Koyna Valley and the Chinaman Waterfalls. The path encompassing the standpoint is replete with heavy vegetation but gives some good views.

This is located very near to the Panchgani town center. Parking is not an issue, but in the afternoon the place gets crowded.

There are a lot of stalls here selling food items, hence the place is littered and a bit unclean. There are toilet facilities available.
The view of the Wai valley and river from the top is great. Must be there once you are at Panchgani.

Mahabaleshwar Boating. 

Visit lake Venna for a ride on paddle/ or rowing boat. You may ride a boat on your own or, alternatively, you can hire one. It is a beautiful and scenic lake.

Mahabaleshwar Horse Riding. 

Horse riding options are available at Venna lake. Usually, the horse trainer would walk along, and you can enjoy the easy-paced ride. If you request the trainer, he can get you a ride at a fast pace, with the horse running the circuit.

Mahabaleshwar Trekking. 

There are many many trekking trails around the hills of Mahabaleshwar. Ask your hotel for the nearest trekking trail

Mahabaleshwar Watch Sunrise and Sunsets. 

Go to Wilson Point or Kate's Point to watch beautiful sunrises, and to Bombay Point or Elphinstone Point to see glowing sunsets.

but the best time to visit Lingamala waterfalls is after the monsoons as the water dries up during summer.
